ENFit® connectors are paving the way to safer enteral feeding. While some states already have legislation in place mandating the use of ENFit connections, others are contemplating their use. This webinar will provide support for the need for ENFit safety features, provide helpful tools and advice for implementing a “whole hospital” transition, and discuss educational needs and population specific considerations discovered during one hospital’s journey.

  • This course contains three separate lessons, with a short quiz at the end of each lesson.
  • Quizzes may be taken more than once for an improved score.
  • You will be required to complete an evaluation at the end of this course.
  • A certificate will be available after the completion of the course evaluation.

Presenter

Lori Wood MSN, CNS, RNC-NIC, IBCLC

Lori Wood is a Neonatal/Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, CA. A neonatal nurse for 36 years, Lori began her career as a bedside neonatal nurse for 10 years before moving into a Clinical Manager position and has been in her current role since 2010. Lori has been certified in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing since 1990 and is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Sharing her passion for mentoring, nursing as a profession, and restoring health to mothers, babies and families is of importance. Promoting the use of human milk in the NICU and sharing evidence-based knowledge is a primary focus. Lori participates in numerous community based groups promoting breastfeeding and the use of human milk, neonatal nursing, and nursing education and professionalism.

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

Lesson 1

  • Understand the safety rationales behind ENFit® changes to all gastric tubes

Lesson 2

  • Discuss approaches to gaining facility adoption of ENFit changes throughout population specific units and interdisciplinary departments
  • List steps to planning, purchasing, educating, and implementing the change to ENFit products and mentality

Lesson 3

  • Explore issues and population specific differences and needs and strategies to educate nurses, physicians, pharmacy, and leadership
