Objectives
Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:
- Learn the different types of nipple shields offered by Medela
- Understand the recommended uses for nipple shields
- Describe how nipple shields work
- Discuss and understand how nipple shields are often important with pretem infants
- Learn and understand nipple shield appropriate sizing
- Understand how to assess milk transfer when using nipple shields
- Learn breastfeeding issues associated with nipple shields and how to manage those issues
- Describe how to apply and use a nipple shield
- Describe proper cleaning methods for nipple shields
