Diane Spatz is a Professor of Perinatal Nursing & the Helen M. Shearer Professor of Nutrition at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing sharing a joint appointment as a nurse researcher and director of the lactation program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the clinical coordinator of the CHOP Mothers’ Milk Bank.
Objectives
Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the numerous risk factors that can put a mother at risk for a delay in the establishment of lactogenesis II.
- Understand the importance of turning on prolactin receptor sites to effectively establish a full milk supply.
- Identify in-hospital breastfeeding support and care and delay in lactogenesis II that can impact patient satisfaction.
